Recording didn’t start in Hollywood, but it sure was perfected here. Yeah we all love those great British Abbey Road / Beatles records. Did you know that George Martin came to Capitol Studios in Hollywood, at Paul McCartney’s request, to see for himself why Sir Paul’s rightfully said: “Why do American Records sound better then ours?” He then ordered several Fairchild's and Pultecs for Abbey Road creating Ringo’s distinctive drum sound and George and John’s bitey midrange guitar tone (already heard on Buck Owen records recorded in the basement at the Capitol Tower) respectively. (scroll down, it get's better)

What about those in the spoon South of France, Exile On Main Street / Rolling Stones tracks? Where do you think Keith and Mick mixed them? Just east of The Strip at Sunset Sound.

Don’t go looking for Gold Star-home of Phil Spector’s “Wall of Sound”-it’s been a mini-mall since the early eighties. The infamous echo chamber of all echo chambers was at Santa Monica and Vine in Hollywood. Did you know that Dr John’s classic voodoo album, “Gris Gris” was recorded at Gold Star. The sessions took place during the off hours of Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” LP for Atlantic. Most of the players for both projects were New Orleans brothel-cum-session musicians in exile.

And of course, the godfathers of residential recording, The Band, recorded their second album, “The Band” at Sammy Davis Jr’s house in where else: The Hollywood Hills.

Well I’m sure you don’t have the budget that guys like Richard Perry, Rod Stewart, and Harry Nillson snorted in the seventies out here ($500,000 minimum per record.) However, you do want to live in style and record with the best vintage and state-of-the-art gear at your fingertips in a sonically tuned and adjustable environment (those big theatrical curtains are not just for looks.) All our gear is top notch, perfectly maintained, and immaculately pleasing to the ear. And is the same stuff that everyone uses and has used for over fifty years of Rock-N-Roll!-Jimmy
